Author's Comment Page / What would you think if you were a vampire?

I hope you enjoyed the story of my recent visit to the house on Lafayette Avenue in Columbus, Indiana. I have no pressing book signings at the moment. I have decided to take a short summer break and concentrate on finishing book two. I am still holding to the title, CALM MADNESS. Do you agree? It makes sense. Sarah has a relatively calm life mixed in with a great deal of madness. You cannot have calm with a vampire in your life; especially if you are mortal. The vampire world will just not let that one alone! But what do you think? Are you content with vampires being more modern or would you prefer them to be more like the Bram Stoker version? Fangs or no fangs? Can turn into bats or not? Can walk out in the sun for a limited time or turn to a pile of ashes? Garlic and crosses to cause torment? A stake through the heart to kill them? No reflections in a mirror? Or, do you like the modern version of Carter and Benjamin? They could be any person standing next to you. I have seen many people with extremely white skin. That's not uncommon. But really, turning into bats? Maybe their personality can change drastically from a calm version to an outraged animal-like version in a split second. I have seen mortals like that; agree? In my opinion, I would love to be able to travel at the speed a vampire does or have exceptional vision, hearing and enhanced senses. It would definately make life interesting. Or is it life? What would you do if every day you walked around knowing that there wasn't going to be an end? You didn't sleep except to spend an hour each day transcending to rejuvenate your powers. You don't eat, just drink. Then, there's the question of where to get your immortal-sustaining sustenance. Humans, animals, synthetic? Human is out of the question. Animals are also off limits to the vampires who respect the animal world. What if you couldn't find synthetic blood? The only alternative left is blood banks. Make a friend with a mortician. There are ways around killing if you are a resourceful vampire. But what do you do with your time? You don't age. If you are young you are likely to attend many different colleges and gain degrees in many educational areas. If you are older then you might continue your mortal career into immortality. Of course, since you don't age, you would have to move around in order to maintain your believability. But just think of the changes you would experience over decades, centuries. Consider it! You've got to admit there is some glamor to the notion.
